PMG PHOTO: TANNER RUSS - Lake Oswego senior Maddie DeBorde holds the top marks in the Three Rivers League in both the 100 meters and long jump; she'll compete in the TRL district meet at Oregon City on Wednesday and Friday. It is on.

It is so on for the Three Rivers League's best track and field athletes.

The 2019 TRL district meet kicks off on Wednesday, May 15, and concludes on Friday, May 16, at Oregon City High School's Pioneer Stadium. Field events begin at 3:30 p.m. each day, with running events scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.

Hanging in the balance are league titles, the chance for glory in one of the year's biggest meets, and biggest of all, a shot at winning a berth to the Class 6A state meet, set for May 24 at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham.

As to those state meet berths, the top two placers in each individual event and each relay at district automatically qualify for state, along with two wildcards in each event (the best two finishers from district meets across the state) and any individuals/teams that hit state qualifying standards at their district meet.

And there's a bundle of athletes from Lake Oswego, Lakeridge and West Linn high schools that ought to have solid shots at winning some of those coveted state meet berths.

Here's a look at the Lakers and Pacers who have the best shots at reaching state, in this case athletes who currently have a time, height or distance among the top five in the Three Rivers League.
