Lake Oswego Track Camp set for two sessions in July
When most people think of summer camp, they think of campfires and s'mores and canoeing.
The Lake Oswego High School track and field program has something else in mind — javelins and high jumps and sprinting.
The Lake Oswego Track and Field Camp is open to youngsters entering grades 2-8 and is set for two sessions — from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 1-5, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 8-12. The camp will be held at the Lake Oswego High School track and costs $300 per person.
The camp will be led by Lake Oswego High School head track coach Vince Kinney, along with assistance from current and former Lake Oswego track athletes. They will offer instruction in events including the high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, javelin, hurdles, pole vault and running. Campers will also participate in games, competitions other fun activities.
Participants are encouraged to bring water and a sports drink, to dress in athletic attire and bring additional gear if there is a chance of rain.
