From every season and every angle, the Lakers' and Pacers' best are pictured doing what they love

Photos of the YearA couple weeks ago, I wrote a column that began this way:

"I hope this doesn't come as a shock to you, but I love sports.

I really love sports.

And most of all, I really, really love high school sports.

I love watching them, I love photographing them, I love writing about them and I love being there for the biggest of the big games."

After that, I blathered on for about 1,000 additional words detailing just why I feel that way.

However, regarding photography, I have more to say and more to share so let me reiterate — I love photographing high school sports.

I love the action. I love the emotion. I love photos that show victory — and sometimes defeat — in a single still image. I love working with the available light, figuring out how to use what's there to make something cool and memorable.

And I love the unpredictable nature of the whole enterprise. Sometimes I think I've got the best shot ever — until I look at it more closely and learn that I'm wrong. And sometimes I don't think I've done that part of my job well at all — until I look the images more closely and sometimes find greatness.

So today, it's time to take a brief look back at some of my favorite images from the 2018-19 school year.
