Four Lake Oswego girls and 11 boys are honored on Wednesday for GPAs between 3.5 and 4.0

PMG FILE PHOTO - Lakeridge's Anthony Wang (right) was one of 11 members of the Lake Oswego Water Polo Organization to be honored on Wednesday, Sept. 23, as an Academic All-American by USA Water Polo.USA Water Polo just announced its 2019-2020 Academic All-Americans, and as it turns out, there's a lot of smart kids in the pool in Lake Oswego.

In USA Water Polo's list of Academic All-Americans — published Wednesday, Sept. 23 — 15 area athletes (most members of the Lake Oswego Water Polo Organization) were recognized. Student-athletes needed a 3.50 grade point average on a scale of 4.0 to qualify.

A message posted to the USA Water Polo website read, in part, "Congratulations to all the athletes recognized for their hard work in the classroom and in the pool."

Among those LOWPO athletes honored were two girls and nine boys: For the girls, it was Charlotte Mitchell and Sophia McCarty. For the boys, it was John Allison, Brody Burk, Collin Parker, Baden Vanhuis, Anthony Wang, Theodore Buchwald, Lincoln Buckner, Daniel Burnham and George Heilig.

Also honored were Cascade Stensland, a member of the Oregon Empire Water Polo Academy, Molly Glad of Saddleback El Toro, and Tualatin Hills Water Polo Club members Hudson Schneider and Miles Campion.
