Aug. 18 event at Langdon Farms offers chance for women amateurs to earn a spot in September tournament.

The opportunity to play in an LPGA tournament usually takes years to achieve.

But there is a one-day route into the LPGA's Cambia Portland Classic through a qualifying event scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora.

The winner of the Cambia Portland Classic Les Schwab Amateur Open will qualify to play in the 2021 Cambia Portland Classic, slated for Sept. 13-19 at The Oregon Golf Club in West Linn. Players who finish second, third and fourth at the Aug. 18 Amateur Open will advance to play in the Monday, Sept. 13, qualifier for the final spot in the Portland LPGA field.

The Aug. 18 tournament is open to any female amateur golfer with a USGA handicap of 2.0 or lower. Play is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. The entry fee is $105.

Among the recent winners who earned the chance to play in the Cambia LPGA Portland Classic through this amateur tournament are Portland native Yvonne Vinceri (2020), Oregon Duck Tze-Han Lin (2019) and 2015 Beaverton High graduate GiGi Stoll (who won this qualifier in 2014, 2015 and 2018).
