MORE STORIES shows LO is named the second most active venue in the entire country.

COURTESY PHOTO - According to data relased by in late November, the pickleball courts at George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego are the second-most active in the entire country. The sun may not be shining now, but when it was, the six pickleball courts at George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego were the second most active venue in the country. This is according to data from, a popular website that players from around the country use to find and schedule games.

"We were amazed when we heard the news because our venue is not very big compared to others," states Mark Woolman, co-president of the Lake Oswego Pickleball Club, "especially considering they are outdoor courts in an area where it occasionally rains.

"Although there are other courts in the area and other organized clubs, the George Rogers courts are the most popular, partly because the courts are maintained so well and were designed to meet professional standards, and partly because our club promotes the idea that 'all are welcome,' which means that players come to those courts daily from northeast Portland to Wilsonville."

According to the Economist, pickleball — which combines elements of tennis, ping pong and badminton — is the fastest growing sport in America, with over 4.2 million Americans playing the game.

"We have worked with LO Parks from day one in 2015 when we met with Parks Director Ivan Anderholm to ask about setting up temporary courts," Woolman said. "Since the courts were permanently converted to single-use pickleball in 2019, demand for playing time on those courts has grown continually."

The Lake Oswego Pickleball Club offers clinics for beginners through the Lake Oswego Parks Department throughout the summer.

According to Playtime Scheduler, the most active venue in the country is Lincoln Hills Park, with 12 courts, in Lincoln Hills, CA. The Summerlake Park courts in Tigard were named the sixth most active venue.
