Members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish invite the community to attend its parish festival to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 at the church, 650 A Ave. in Lake Oswego. Games, food and music are planned for the whole family. Event leader Katie Maag wants the community to feel welcome to the church.

“This is the first year that Our Lady of the Lake Parish is making a real effort to include the Lake Oswego community in our parish festival,” Maag said. “It is going to be a wonderful day filled with good food, great live music, games and family fun. We are extending a special invitation to the City of Lake Oswego to come join the festival.”

The cuisine highlight will be the Knights of Columbus’ fish tacos, which gained fame at this year’s Festival of the Arts. Alternate choices include hamburgers, cheese burgers and kid-sized hot dogs. Side dishes include potato salad, baked beans, three-bean salad, corn on the cob and watermelon. Old fashioned lemonade, soda, popcorn and ice cream will be offered as part of the fun ticket, which also includes face painting and admission to a bounce house or slide. Meal tickets are $7 each and fun tickets are $1 each.

Volleyball and playground games, such as a three-legged race, will also be played. Representatives from the Lake Oswego fire and police departments will be on hand and you can get a free blood pressure screening at the health and safety booth.

Providing musical entertainment will be Ants in the Kitchen, a group which plays 1970s funk, blues and soul. Fathers John Kerns and Charles Wood may be egged into singing a few songs, too.

A crowd funding campaign will pay the bill for Ants in the Kitchen.

“This practice funds a project by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people,” Maag said. “You are encouraged to give any amount you wish. Your contribution is tax deductible.” To contribute to the crowd funding campaign visit
