Ignite West Linn history talks resume
For The Review, Tidings
The West Linn Historical Society (WLHS) has launched Ignite West Linn: History on Fire, a series of talks based on West Linn's history.
Ignite talks are rapid and engaging five minute presentations using just 20 slides that automatically move forward every 15 seconds. The public is invited to support local experts on historical topics from fashion to the history of the falls in this lively format.
The first Ignite talk of the year will take place Jan. 27 at 4:30 p.m. at Willamette Ale & Cider House, 1720 Willamette Falls Drive. Following the Ignite talk, the WLHS will hold its annual meeting. Any new members joining that evening can vote.
February's Ignite talk, "From Petticoats to Poodle Skirts," will take place Feb. 9 and features a historical fashion tea at the McLean House, 5350 River St., West Linn. Reservations are required and seating times are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Cost is $35 per person and tickets can be purchased online at westlinnhistory.org.
The March Ignite talk will be held March 16 at 7 p.m. at Youth Music Project Meteor Lounge, 2015 8th Ave., West Linn. This talk features the West Linn Radio Hour, a live theatrical performance based on life in West Linn in the year 1956.
Segments include a roundup of the news, West Linn history on parade, and the "As the Willamette Flows" soap opera. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased online at westlinnhistory.org or at the door.
Ignite West Linn: History on Fire is part of the History Without Walls campaign started by the West Linn Historical Society in 2015.
