Sam's Attic Eclectic Thrift has moved to 7901 SW Cirrus Drive building 27 in Beaverton.

The all-volunteer thrift shop is part of Good Samaritan Ministries International. All profits support schools and orphanages in Uganda, Africa.

Wholistic Peace Institute releases new book, DVD

The Wholistic Peace Institute has released the second edition of "The Student Peace Book: Learning from the Nobel Peace Laureates," and a 1.5 hour DVD with footage of interviews with Nobel Peace Laureates hosted by World Peace Institute (WPI). This supplemental instructional resource was edited by WPI, compiled from primary sources, the Nobel Peace Committee and university professors emphasizing the importance of historically accurate, culturally relevant content that meets the social science standards for grades 6 through 12, adopted by Oregon Department of Education in May 2018. The 178-page manual provides a short, clear and straight forward way to teach about world peacemakers and the history changing actions they undertook during their lifetimes. The book was published by the Oregon Education Association.

National Day of Prayer to be recognized

The National Day of Prayer will be celebrated for the 18th time in Lake Oswego. Organized by representatives from Lake Grove Presbyterian, Meadow Springs Community, Our Lady of the Lake and River West churches, the event will take place at noon May 2 at Lake Oswego City Hall, 380 A Ave. Worship music will be supplied by students of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School and the opening prayer will be said by Pastor Mary Ann Noack of River West Church.

The National Day of Prayer was established by President Harry S. Truman. Participants pray for God's protection and direction for the nation, our leaders, troops, communities, schools and churches. All ages are welcome. Meet by the flagpole behind city hall.
