American Family Care now offering vets healthcare option
American Family Care (AFC) Portland is now offering a Veterans Health Care Option at its four clinics in the Portland metropolitan area.
The new service is designed to fill a health care gap for local armed services personnel.
The Mission Act was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump June 6. US veterans can use authorized urgent care locations without a prior US Department of Veterans Affairs authorization. The goal of the new program is to provide veterans with greater choices and access to timely, high quality care within the VA's community network.
The Veterans Health Care Option covers treatment at all AFC clinics for injuries/illnesses that require immediate attention but are not life threatening. There are restrictions such as general wellness, preventive exams and other non-urgent health care services.
AFC clinics are located in northeast Portland, Beaverton, Lake Oswego and northwest Portland. They are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the week, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends with no appointment necessary. Visit AFCUrgentCarePortland.com for more information.
