Does your home need a spruce up before the holiday festivities begin? Get to Vanillawood Dec. 5 through 14 for inspiration and more

PGM PHOTO: BARB RANDALL - Kricken and James Yaker, owners of Vanillawood Design/Build, have added personal shopping and a stronger e-commerce component to the business.

Kricken Yaker says Vanillawood is on revision 3.1.

"First we opened in the Pearl District, then we moved here," she said. "Now we are evolving one more step."

Vanillawood has been open at 16354 Boones Ferry Road in Lake Oswego for five years, offering design/build and interior design services.

Owned by the husband and wife team of James and Kricken Yaker, the company offers all services needed for projects of all sizes whether you are building from the ground up, remodeling and adding an addition, or spiffying up for the holidays.

They have a team of inhouse professionals offering architecture and engineering services, general contracting, interior design, furniture, lighting and home decor, custom furniture and rugs, kitchen and bath cabinetry and a designer curated online shop.

"We can do everything clients need, from start to finish," said Kricken. "Having one cohesive team makes it easier and more efficient for clients. They work with one entity through the completion of the project."

The storefront located on Boones Ferry has closed as a brick-and-mortar location, but will serve as a pop-up shop offering curated gifts, home accessories and more for customers.

"Our brick-and-mortar location will be used as a pick-up spot, (and work space for the design/build teams)," said Kricken. "But our e-commerce side of the business is bigger than ever. That is how people like to shop."

A big focus of the e-commerce business is personal shopping, helping clients source the items they want, either for their homes or gifts for friends, family and clients.

Clients can visit the website, vanillawood.com, and shop for a wide variety of items such as furniture, lighting, decor, gifts and more. They can order online and arrange to either have the items delivered or pick them up at the Boones Ferry office. Those wishing personal shopping services simply fill out a short questionnaire about what they looking for and the Vanillawood team goes to work seeking options for the desired items.

To launch the personal shopping service guests are invited to drop by the Boones Ferry location between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 5 through 14, and learn more about it.

"This is a perfect way to purchase unique hostess gifts, birthday gifts or client gifts," Kricken said.
