Apply now to be an Old Time Fair Ambassador
You might have noticed a name change to a West Linn tradition last year. The annual West Linn Old Time Festival has renamed the fair court to fair ambassadors, still with the same role of promoting the fair.
This year's team of ambassadors, led by Queen Avery Mickey, has been visiting middle schools in West Linn to talk about the upcoming selection process for the 2020 program. An informational meeting will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the West Linn Adult Community Center (WLACC), 1180 Rosemont Road for all prospective candidates. All eighth grade students in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District, or private and home schools, are encouraged to apply. For more information and an application packet visit West Linn Parks and Recreation's website, westlinnoregon.gov/oldtimefair/old-time-fair-ambassadors-program.
Completed applications are due by 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 at West Linn City Hall, 22500 Salamo Road.
Selection interviews and speeches are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20 beginning at 6 p.m. at the McLean House in West Linn.
The program has evolved to better reflect the role and responsibilities of the selected students and to include all students interested in service to the community, improving their public speaking abilities and promoting the ongoing tradition of the fair. Any questions about the program or interest in helping with the fair should be directed to staff with the West Linn Parks and Recreation Department at 503-557-4700.
