Learn how to improve your backyard habitat
Lakewood Center Associates (LCA) will hold its monthly luncheon meeting March 19 in the community room of Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State St., Lake Oswego.
Guest speaker will be Cindy Ellison presenting "Landscaping for Wildlife." Since 2011, Ellison has abeen the Lake Oswego site technician for the Backyard Habitat program supported by the partnership of Friends of Tryon Creek Natural Area, the Audubon Society of Portland and the Columbia Land Trust. She has a bachelor's degree in natural resource conservation form the University of Connecticut and when she moved to Oregon in 1989 she began studying the animals and plants indigenous to this area.
She will share strategies on how to create natural landscapes in your own yard that are healthier and more resilient for both wildlife and people.
All are welcome to attend the event. The event begins with signin at 10 a.m., followed by a short business meeting at 10:30 a.m. and the program at 11 a.m. Lunch is served at noon at a cost of $15 payable by cash or check. LCA is a group of volunteers who mission is to promote the welfare and service the needs of the Lakewood Center for the Arts. The group oversees fundraising events and manages the Re-Runs shop, a consignment and gift shop selling furniture, jewelry, antiques and housewares.
