Note: The West Linn Adult Community Center will be closed until April 13. Activities will be rescheduled

Editor's note: At press time we received notice that the West Linn Adult Community Center would close until April 13. Anything mentioned in this article taking place during that time will be rescheduled.

With spring just around the corner, there will be some wonderful "springy" events happening at the West Linn Adult Community Center.

Mark these dates:

We will offer a new class, Paint and Sip, from 1-3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2.

While we're painting, we'll also be sipping on a mimosa, sparkling rose or juice. Tea and scones also will be available. Join painter Maureen Heath as she guides the class on creating a spring-colored painting. Take home your finished masterpiece. The $30 fee includes painting supplies and two beverages. Sign up at the front desk or call 503-557-4704 to reserve a space.

At 1 p.m. Monday, April 13, the movie "Ford v. Ferrari" will be shown at the center.

It is based on the true story of a visionary car designer and a fearless driver who take on the race cars of Enso Ferrari in Le Mans in 1966. The movie is rated PG-13, and you can enjoy free popcorn while you watch. The center screens movies once a month.

Another noteworthy event is the annual Mother's Day Tea. The event this year takes place at noon Tuesday, May 5. This years' theme is "Once Upon A Time."

This event is always popular. Tea is served by tuxedo-clad waiters, and the menu includes delicious scones and other delicacies.

Advanced tickets will be available in early April at the center for $15 per person.

This event celebrates mothers and women who bring joy to our lives. Purchase tickets as soon as possible, since this event sells out quickly.

The annual plant sale will be held May 7, 8 and 9, with proceeds benefitting the programs of the center. More information about the plant sale will be shared at a later date.

Don't forget that the WLACC is always looking for volunteers to help out in the kitchen, at the front desk and in the gift shop. Volunteering is a wonderful way to give, give back and be part of the community.

The lunch menu this week features chicken fajitas, black beans, corn and brownies on Friday, March 20; sloppy Joes, potato salad, green beans and banana pudding on Monday, March 23; and lentil soup, ham sandwiches and vanilla bundt cake on Wednesday, March 25. Cost is $5 per person.

The WLACC is located at 1180 Rosemont Road. Come on down and have some fun.
