Tualatin Food Pantry needs volunteers

More helping hands are needed to pack food boxes at Tualatin Food Pantry, according to the nonprofit's organizers Mike Schiffer and Tracy Smith.

"We have created a way to allow anyone to volunteer through an online signup tool. I know that there are many of you who are already helping and others who need to step away at this time."

Schiffer and Smith are seeking volunteers for a variety of jobs including food box packing. You can learn more online at schoolhousepantry.org or on the Facebook page.

Is your voter registration up to date?

The League of Women Voters of Clackamas County reminds voters that the deadline for registering for the Primary Election is April 28. Despite this time of crisis, Oregon's May 19 Primary Election will proceed on schedule, since our enviable vote-by-mail system allows you to vote in the comfort of your home. If you need to register, update your address, declare or change your party affiliation, or just check to see if your registration information is correct, please take a moment and visit oregonvotes.org.

It's important to keep in mind that Oregon has a closed primary system, which means you must declare a party affiliation if you want to vote for national or state candidates in one of the major parties. Otherwise, your ballot will only show you candidates in nonpartisan local races. And when it's time to vote, don't forget that the League of Women Voters provides excellent, nonpartisan election information at vote411.org.
