Lion's Pot of Gold raffle nets $600 for sight and hear program
The Lake Oswego Lions Club held its annual Pot of Gold 50/50 raffle March 18. The raffle raised $648.67 for the District 36-0 Sight and Hearing Task Force. The winning ticketholder was Lion Anna Steichen of the Gresham Lions Supper Club.
Steichen purchased the ticket from Lake Oswego Lion Dane Parreira, during his visit to the Gresham club.
"This was no surprise to me," said Bonnie Roeder, a Lake Oswego Lions Club member. "I knew that Dane was out there selling tickets — more than 70 — all over the district! I spoke with PDG Lion Bert Diamond of the Task Force to let him know that even though he purchased 15 of the tickets, he did not win. He said he is happy for the winner who belongs to a great Lions Club that does so much for sight and hearing and he was thrilled and thankful for the funds Lake Oswego Lions raised for the District 36-0 Sight and Hearing Task Force. That $648.87 will immediately be put to good use to fulfil needs of the applications the Task Force currently has pending."
Many Lake Oswego Lions were credited with making the event a success, including Shron Rollins, Genevieve Ford, Kelly Hobson, Jim Vincent.
The Lions Club's District 36-O Sight and Hearing Task Force helps to provide eyeglasses and hearing aids for needy people who do not live near a Lions club.
