Barnyard Bolt 5K Family Fun Run at Luscher Farm
Barnyard Bolt is perfect for the whole family and promises to be fun and full of laughter. Mark your calendars for Aug. 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dress up as your favorite barnyard animal, and dash your way through splashes, bubbles, obstacles and more. For ages 5+. Staggered start times will be done for capacity monitoring. $18/person.
Learn to Kayak Tour â€“ Come paddle on the Willamette River out of George Rogers Park. Explore paths once traveled by Native American tribes. Look for bald eagles, blue herons and more while you learn basic paddling skills including launching, strokes, maneuvering and staying safe in the water. Ages 16+, $69. 50+ Alder Creek Kayak Trip â€“ Have fun exploring part of the Willamette River Water Trail. Transportation by the Adult Community Center will be provided to George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego. A basic safety briefing and a few pointers on technique will be provided before launching from the dock. After the tour enjoy lunch on your won at Lake Oswego's Manzana Rotisserie Grill. Transportation included, previous experience is not required. Ages 18+, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 2, Adult Community Center, $59.
Kids get moving
Musical Theatre for Kids â€“ Learn choreography from your favorite musicals and Broadway shows. Explore jazz, musical theatre and contemporary technique in a fun environment. Ages 8-12, 5:15-6 p.m., Fridays, Sept. 17-Oct. 22, Christ Church Parish (CCP), $55.
Acro I for Kids â€“ This is an opportunity for young dancers to learn exciting dance flexibility and tumbling skills. Parents are encouraged to watch at the end of the class. Ages 5-8, 12:15-1 p.m., Saturdays, Sept. 18-Oct. 23, CCP, $55.
Kids get creative
Art Explorers â€“ Come paint and draw while being inspired by different artists and techniques. Use a variety of media including watercolors, oil pastels and more. This class encourages kids to follow their inner artist. Ages 5-7, 10-11 a.m., Saturdays, Sept. 25-Oct. 16, CCP, $70.
Adults get creative
Creative Café â€“ Bring your favorite hot beverage and spend an hour and a half getting creative with writing and mixed media art. Work with writing and art prompts to create mixed genre creative pieces. Examples and prompts will be given for genres ranging from photography to mixed media to painting. All levels welcome; not prior writing or art experience needed. Ages 18+, 6-7:30 p.m., Thursdays, Sept. 16-Oct. 21, CCP, $74.
