Dentist Off Main named Business of the Year
The Dentist off Main, owned by Dr. Olesya Salathe, was named the Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year at the chamber's annual awards dinner and auction held Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Museum of The Oregon Territory in Oregon City.
Kylie Pingel, from Pheasant Pointe Assisted living & Memory Care, was given the Alan DeFabio Award. This honor is given to a chamber board member who is dependable, shows exemplary dedication and works hard on the many projects the chamber does throughout the year.
This year's dinner theme was "Welcome to Winter in Paradise." Guests were treated to a Hawaiian style dinner. After dinner, awards were presented, board members were introduced, inductees for 2017 Class of Rodeo Honorees for the Walk of Fame were announced and the auction to raise funds to support the chamber was held.
Board members and officers for 2017 are:
President––Connie Farrens, Pepco Designs Vice President––Carol Maloy, RE/Max HomeSource Treasurer –– Terry Shankel, Clinkscales Portable Toilets Newly elected board members –– Darrel Sandquist of Spot Again Tavern and Bob Jones of Edward Jones Investments.Returning board members are Kaylie Pingel of Pheasant Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care and Dawn Rachels of Molalla Manor.
2017 Class of Rodeo Honorees inductees were Freckles Brown, Clay O'Brien Cooper, Lewis Fields, Lane Frost, Tuff Hedmen, Cotton Rosser, Jake Barns, Henry Christensen and Robert Christensen.
The work and contributions Dr. Olesya Salathe, Dentist Off Main Street, does for the community made her a likely choice for the Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year:
Holiday Tree Lighting and Downtown Decorating Event—brought volunteers from many organization together to decorate and raise money for the event. Sponsor for Giant 4th of July Parade, Buckeroo Rodeo, Share the Love, Freedom 5K, Food 4 Life Field Trips every year for 3rd grade classroom (Colton, Rural Dell, Mulino, Clarkes), New Horizons Daycare, Colton community Preschool and Loving Hearts Preschool. Salathe Buck Programs––essay contest each month for children in her practice, winners get $200 towards their classroom. Mouthguard Mania––for 6 years has provided custom mouth guards to Molalla and Colton High Schools, at $220 each. Total value donated over $100,000 in the 6 years. Oral health screening, sponsoring back to school nights. Won the Gerald E. Bruce Award from Ford Family foundation for leadership and community service. Matched the $5000 prize and donated $10,000 to Colton Boosters for new playground. Raised money for new bleachers in Colton through Colton Bleaching for Bleachers fundraiser. Supports kids at the county fair, booster donations and FFA auction donations.In addition to being an active member of the Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Salathe is the chair person for Oregon Dental Association's New Dentists Council, traveling throughout the country representing Oregon. She is the past President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer of Clackamas County Dental Society.
