Colton Corner: New owners to open Colton Café
On Tuesday, Feb. 27, Amy and Matt Hall became the new owners of Colton Café. The couple has lived in Colton for 10 years and last year right around Christmas time Amy said to Matt, "We should buy the Café." She says she went to do laundry and waited to see if Matt really would make the call to the realtor. He did, and on the Saturday before Christmas the Hall's toured the restaurant, made their decision and now have the keys.
The couple grew up in the small town of Banks II, Idaho, where Amy's parents owned The Ponderosa Restaurant. Amy spent years working in the family restaurant and Matt helped out when the two began dating in high school. They are looking forward to getting the Café open.
Matt says they are planning to have their boys, Drexler and Dawson, help out when they are available. Amy's parents Bill and Ann Kirkpatrick, who now live locally, will be mentoring the Halls as they begin their new adventure. The plan is to have the Colton Café doors open by the end of spring when they will begin by serving breakfast and lunch and work up to adding dinner hours.
"We are going to keep the menu very similar to what Rex and Angela offered," Amy said.
Between now and opening day the two will be working on all the permits, some fixes and updates and just getting ready to open the doors to the community.
"We are looking forward to having a place where friends can meet for good food at a good value," Amy said.
