Man dead in apparent suicide after SWAT situation
Clackamas County's SWAT and Hostage Negotiations teams responded to a home on S. Deardorff Road in Molalla Tuesday after police say a male fired a shot from inside. Several hours later, police found the male deceased inside the home.
"It appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound," said Brian Jensen, public information officer for the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
On the afternoon of April 3, police had gone to the home for a welfare check and to serve a warrant, but the scene escalated when the male subject inside the home fired a shot around 1:30 p.m.
"Our deputies took cover and called for assistance," Jensen said.
Molalla Police said Tuesday that the man shot into the wall of his house from the inside, but they believed no one was shot.
SWAT tried for several hours to make contact with the male subject, and around 5 p.m. they found him deceased, according to Jensen. He was the only person inside the home.
The sheriff's office likely will not release the subject's name.
