A one-car crash Friday night claims a young life, injures others before CCSO make an arrest

A Friday evening traffic accident outside Molalla left one child dead, two injured and a Hubbard man arrested on multiple charges.

Shane Richard Bremer, age 34, of Hubbard, was charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment x4, assault IV x3, assault III x1, DUI (alcohol), and manslaughter.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, a call came in at about 5:21 p.m. Friday, June 15, of a reported injury traffic accident outside of Molalla. However, those involved in the accident were at a residence in the 34000 block of S. Dickey Prairie Road in Molalla. Due to a lack of cell phone service at the crash area, everyone involved had made their way to the Dickey Prairie residence by flagging down another car.

When fire and medical personnel arrived, they found that one child, Derick Bedwell (age 6) had sustained fatal injuries, while two others, Dylan Bedwell (age 6) and Rebecca Sanders (age 10) had injuries that required transport to a local hospital. A fourth passenger, Jennifer Sanders, age 29, of Canby, also sustained injuries and was transported by Life Flight to a local hospital.

Bremer, who is not the father of the three children, accompanied the two injured children to the hospital. Following an investigation into what happened, Clackamas Count Sheriff's officers arrested Bremer and he was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on the above charges.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Medical Examiners office, American Medical Response, Life Flight Network, Molalla Police department, Molalla Fire department, and the Clackamas County Crash Reconstruction and Forensic Team.

The investigation is continuing and anyone who may have seen Mr. Bremer on June 15 is urged to call the CCSO Tip Line at 503-723-4949 or leave an online tip here:
