Two killed in HWY 211 head-on crash
Two died Sunday morning in a head-on collision involving a Mini Cooper and a 24- to 26-foot long motorhome.
According to Colton Lieutenant Doug Dolney, on Sunday, July 15 at 9:19 a.m., the volunteers of Colton Rural Fire Protection District #70 responded to the traffic crash at South Highway 211 and Oswalt Road. The responders first on scene discovered a passenger in the Mini Cooper was deceased. The driver was still showing vital signs.
"Unfortunately the driver died from his injuries while on the gurney," Dolney said.
The driver and a passenger of the motorhome were transported by ambulance to OHSU to assess trauma injuries.
Colton Fire was assisted by Estacada Fire, Molalla Fire, Clackamas Fire, Canby Fire, Life Flight, Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon State Police (OSP), Molalla Police Department and the OSP Department of Fish and Game who, according to Dolney, were the closest police responders to the site.
OSP is doing a crash reenactment and investigation. More information will be released when the investigation is complete.
South Highway 211 from Wall Street to South Dhooghe Road was closed for several hours. Traffic was detoured onto Green Mountain Road.
"We want to thank all emergency personnel from the multiple agencies who were on the scene," Dolney said. "And a thank you to C-COM for all the work the dispatchers did on this incident."
