Angel Ocasio, a top physical comedian and clown, is coming to Molalla with "Komedy 4 Da Kidz" on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the gym near the Molalla Public Library. Come for lots of laughs. This is the last summer reading performance.


The Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce plans to hold its monthly breakfast on Thursday, Aug. 9 from 7:45-9 a.m. at the Chamber, 109 E. The Molalla United Methodist Church is holding a block party on Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, 111 Mathias Rd. The public is welcome to join in celebrating summer fun with vendors, United Methodist Women yard sale, games for kids, music and food.


Lumber Jack Grill will hold a car show on Sunday, Aug. 12, from noon to 7 p.m. The show will feature all makes and models. Funds raised at the show will benefit families that have been impacted by the fires in Oregon. Donations of goods and clothing are also being accepted. The annual Elwood picnic is this Sunday, Aug. 12 beginning at 1 p.m. The event will be held in the Elwood covered space next to Elwood Cemetery, 24503 South Elwood Rd. It is a potluck meal; everyone who attends is asked to bring a side dish, main dish, finger foods or desserts to share. Paper plates, cups, napkins and utensils will be provided along with lemonade. You will need to bring a chair. There will be some pop-up tents for shade, live music and an arts and crafts table. This year, there will also be raffle baskets to raise funds to contribute to the cost of the picnic. The event is open to all Elwood and Colton family and friends.



Matthew Gurnsey, also known as "The Kilted Man," is visiting the Molalla Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. Come enjoy Celtic music for all ages in the conference room.


The ever-popular Daniela Mahoney is teaching a wheat weaving workshop on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Molalla Public Library. Students complete one or two small heart-shaped objects. Space is limited, so please sign up for this crafting event. Visit the library or call 503-829-6855.


The Molalla Public Library is hosting a night of preparation for the 12 weeks of U.S. Citizenship classes on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. Sign-up is requested. Visit the library or call 503-829-6855.


There will be a Celebrate Molalla community event on Saturday, Sept. 22. The event will include music, food, a car show, kids crafts, vendors and more. The planning team is still in need of face painters, jewelry makers, metal crafters, singers with acoustic instruments, fiddlers, acapella groups, balloon artists, wood carvers, loggers and banjo players.


The Molalla Heritage Apple Festival 2018 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dibble House Museum Complex, 620 S. Molalla Ave. The Molalla Area Historical Society has hosted the festival since 1975. This event will feature homemade pies, cider pressing, butter-making, live music, local vendors and more. The festival is free, but MAHS welcomes donations to support them in their mission to preserve Molalla's rich history.
