Molalla man arrested for shooting neighbor's dog
On Friday, Aug. 17, a woman reported her dog missing, and soon after, her neighbor was arrested for allegedly shooting the animal.
The woman called police dispatch to report that her golden retriever, Rudy, was missing. She also revealed that her neighbor, Preston L. Gorbett, claimed he shot the animal, according to Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrived on scene at the 15700 block of S. Highway 211 in Molalla and interviewed the suspect and witnesses. They determined that Gorbett had shot Rudy in the face with a 44 Magnum handgun and that probable cause existed to arrest him.
Gorbett was arrested on charges of Aggravated Animal Abuse in the First Degree and booked into Clackamas County Jail.
Rudy was transported to a local animal hospital, where he is expected to survive, police say.
