MHS students raise funds during Lavender Week
Molalla High School students concluded Lavender Week at the football game on the night of Friday, Sept. 21. Students and other fans showed up in their lavender in an effort to spread cancer awareness.
At half-time, two students, who have both had cancer, shared stories about how they were personally affected and asked members of the audience to stand if they have been impacted by cancer. They also sent around duct tape for people to stick their cash donations to.
"It was a great, eventful night," said student organizer Emilie Mendoza.
She also said Lavender Week, as a whole, went well, and they sold all t-shirts during the week. The total money raised is yet to come, but at the football game alone, students collected $700 to donate to the Children's Cancer Association.
