Holidays push Development Code legislative amendment/update to Jan. 16 public hearing

Because of the holidays, Molalla's Planning Commission moved the date of a public hearing from last month to Jan. 16 to discuss a legislative code update for three sections of the city's development code. The city proposed the code update to align with the recent adoption of the 2018 Transportation System Master Plan.

"It is a code update to bring the development code in line with the master plan that was just adopted," said Gerald Fisher, public works director. "The development code was revised in 2017, and we adopted a new Transportation System Plan in 2018. The minor changes came from the Master Plan."

In order to follow the rules, all code updates to the Comprehensive Plan must be consistent with state planning goals and relevant Oregon Administrative rules. The plan may be updated at the same time as the proposed zoning changes. The issue must be heard in a hearing while copies of the application, any documents and evidence submitted along with standards will be available for review at the Planning office while a copy of the staff report is available seven days prior to the hearing.

Once the hearing is closed, and council members issue a decision it will be mailed to anyone who submitted written comments. The public is invited to attend the hearing offering oral or written testimony. All comments can be submitted to Fisher in writing or by email until 5 p.m. the day of the meeting or after that only by oral testimony at the meeting. Mailed comments should be sent to Fisher at P.O. Box 248, 117 N. Molalla Ave., Molalla 97038 or to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
