Fire destroys downtown building
An old boutique in downtown Molalla went up in flames Wednesday night as a 3-alarm fire ravaged the building near the intersection of N. Molalla Avenue and W. Main Street.
A woman was able to make her escape from the nearly 100-year-old building, but her son is unaccounted for at this point.
The fire broke out about 11:30 p.m. and by the time fire crews arrived on the scene, the building was fully involved, eventually damaging Bentley's Feed store next door. The boutique's roof collapsed, causing the rest of the building to implode with it.
Crews learned later that the property owners were still residing in the boarded up building's upper floor. The building itself was built in the 1920s.
Investigators continue to work the scene.
