Closed door confines fire to single room
A fire started at a Molalla home on Feb. 18, but the damage was confined to one room because the door was closed when the fire started.
While there was heavy damage to the room, the rest of the home had only smoke damage, according to Lieutenant Byron Wakefield, from Molalla Fire District 73.
Crews aggressively attacked the interior space and halted the fire's progress.
No injuries were reported, including a dog that firefighters removed from the home. Lt. Wakefield noted the need to keep doors closed at night, allowing residents time to escape from fires and possibly keeping the fire from spreading.
