Fire starts at Molalla home last week, no one hurt, damage confined to one room

MOLALLA FIRE - Because the door was closed, damage was confined to a single room in the home. A fire started at a Molalla home on Feb. 18, but the damage was confined to one room because the door was closed when the fire started.

While there was heavy damage to the room, the rest of the home had only smoke damage, according to Lieutenant Byron Wakefield, from Molalla Fire District 73.

Crews aggressively attacked the interior space and halted the fire's progress.

No injuries were reported, including a dog that firefighters removed from the home. Lt. Wakefield noted the need to keep doors closed at night, allowing residents time to escape from fires and possibly keeping the fire from spreading.
