One dies, one transported, one walks away in HWY 211 crash near Country Christian School Friday

MFD - The crash took one life on Highway 211 near Country Christian School on Friday, March 1.

OSP - A view of the scene Friday evening.One died in a crash on Highway 211 Friday, making it the second fatality on that stretch of the highway within a week.

Emergency personnel responded to the reported crash on the evening of Friday, March 1 at Highway 211 near Country Christian School to find what Molalla Fire District described as a "chaotic scene."

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Subaru Legacy, operated by Maurice Deets, 75, of Colton, was traveling northbound on the highway when for unknown reasons, the Subaru crossed over the center line and into the southbound lane, striking a Dodge 2500, operated by Beverly Parker, 48, of Woodburn, according to Oregon State Police.

The front passenger of the Subaru, Matthew Deets, 49, of Colton, was pronounced deceased at the scene, per state police.

Maurice Deets was removed from the vehicle using the jaws of life, according to Molalla Fire, and was transported via air lift to an area trauma hospital.

Parker was able to walk away from the scene with minor injuries, Molalla Fire said. State Police added that she declined transport to a hospital.

Highway 211 was closed at that site for 5 ½ hours while state police conducted an investigation, they said.

MFD - The highway was closed for 3-4 hours while Oregon State Police conducted an investigation.

Along with Molalla Fire and Oregon State Police, other agencies on scene were Colton Fire, Molalla Police, Clackamas Fire, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, American Medical Response, Oregon Department of Transportation and Life Flight Network.
