Big Top Circus coming to Molalla's Buckaroo Rodeo grounds Memorial Day weekend

Get set for Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, which will be in Molalla on Memorial Day weekend with scheduled performances at 2 and 4:30 p.m. at the Buckaroo Rodeo grounds. Sponsored by the Molalla Chamber of Commerce, the shows promise fun and excitement for all who attend.

Residents are invited to come out that Saturday morning and watch as the rodeo grounds are transformed into the circus. There's lots of activity to watch as animals are unloaded and the Big Top erected between 9:30 and 10 a.m. and rigging is prepared for the afternoon performances.

After that, residents are invited to stay for a free tour. This includes a chance for residents to meet and learn about the circus family with a walking tour of the circus grounds. It also includes learning facts about the performers, the history of the show and the different species of animals that live within the circus.

The presentation includes facts about the care the animals are given including topics like hygiene, grooming and veterinary care.

The 90-minute shows include an all-star lineup of performances and magic. Among them are Miss Simone and her trapeze, Miss Paulina's Big & Little prancing ponies, the Arlise Troupe on wild and crazy unicycles, Natalie's American Eskimo Escapades and Miss Georgia displaying her extreme flexibility.

It also features, for the first time anywhere, the Wheel of Destiny & Tight Rope by the Perez family, and includes performances by Trey Key's Jungle Cats—Soloman, Deliliah and Francis. The circus performers will amaze, delight and entertain audience members of all ages.

Buy tickets in advance at the Molalla Chamber of Commerce, Cutter's Hi-School Pharmacy, NV Feed and Floyd Family Orthodontics. Advance ticket prices are $12 for adults and $7 for seniors (65 and over) and children ages 2 to 12. On show days, they are slightly higher at $15 for adults and $8 for seniors and children.

The box office will open one hour before the show where you also can purchase tickets for pony rides, Moonbounce, concessions and other items.
