School meal prices climb
Molalla's school meal prices will cost a few extra cents beginning in the 2019-20 school year.
Prices for breakfast are increasing by 15 cents up to $1.50 for elementary, and $1.75 for middle and high school.
Prices for lunch are increasing by just 5 cents up to $2.50 for elementary, $3.00 for middle and $3.25 for high school.
When Financial Director Rick Gill brought the proposed price changes before the school board, Director Craig Loughridge inquired as to why the percentage increase is so much higher for breakfast than for lunch.
Gill explained that fewer students buy breakfast, and the increase helps offset some of the cost to the district.
The board approved the price changes unanimously. This is the second year in a row that the district has increased meal prices, according to Gill.
