Paradise of Samoa performance Tuesday, math camp registration due and more going on in the area

PARADISE OF SAMOA

Concerts in the Park will continue at Fox Park on Tuesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. with Paradise of Samoa dancers. The group offers authentic Pacific Island Dance and live music entertainment. They specialize in original Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Maori, Hawaiian and Tahitian dances. The band plays and sings a comfortable mix of English and Native language songs.

CAREER FAIR

HireLive is reaching out to local communities near the Portland area for a Career Fair that will be held on Wednesday, June 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Double Tree by Hilton, 1000, NE Multnomah St., Portland 97232.

While the event is free, parking is available at the hotel for a $3 flat fee.

Job opportunities include Inside and Outside Sales Reps, Account Executives, Retail Managers, Account Managers, Insurance Sales, Customer Service, Technical Sales, Sales Managers, Pharmaceutical Sales, Tele Sales, Sales Trainer, Merchandiser, Mortgage Brokers, Financial Planner, Route Sales, Retail Management, Human Resources and more.

PET OUTREACH EVENT

There will be a pet outreach event at Just Bee Farms on June 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a pet adoption, pet food bank and business outreach event. PAWS Animal Shelter will be there, along with Pitty Palace and Fido Pet Food Bank, as well as 15 vendors. The goal is to support the work of pet shelters, to find homes for the variety of pets that will be available and to promote the vendors.

BOOK RELEASE/SIGNING

Authors Judy Chapman and Lois E. Ray, will be on hand for a book signing and meet and greet at Ivor Davies Hall, 620 S. Metzler, On Saturday, June 29 from 1-4 p.m. The authors of "Images of America: Molalla and Scotts Mills: A Pictorial History," have meticulously researched and completed their latest book, "Wilhoit Springs: Molalla's Lost Resort." Copies of the book will be available for sale at the museum, and refreshments will be served. Never before seen photos will be on display that are not in the book. MATH CAMP

Registration is due at the end of this week for Math Camp, hosted by Renaissance Public Academy and held at the Molalla Public Library Aug. 19-23 from 8 a.m. to noon. GIDDYUP JUNCTION

Grace Lutheran Church in Molalla will host Giddyup Junction, a Vacation Bible School program for children ages 3 to 12, on July 8 to 15. The program runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day and features Bible stories, crafts, games, snacks and more. For more information, call 503-829-2250.

OREGON KOTO-KAI

Concerts in the Park continues at Fox Park on Tuesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. with Oregon Koto-Kai. This troupe offers an experience of traditional music from Japan focusing around the sound of the koto, or Japanese Harp.

BEER FOR OUR HORSES

Pheasant Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care is hosting an event called "Beer for our Horses" on Saturday, July 13. There will be pony rides. The White Horse Restaurant will be supplying samples of beer and the kitchen staff at Pheasant Pointe will be hosting a potato and chili bar.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Help celebrate Christmas in July at the Molalla Adult Center annual sale on Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those attending will get first pick from a generous donation of new décor from the unique sale of Christmas and other holiday items. Come early before these goodies get picked over.

FREE FOOD MARKET

Colton Helping Hands Food Pantry is extending their outreach to the community by offering a Free Food Market, 30138 South Wall Street, on the fourth Monday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables and pantry staples available. The food is free and anybody is welcome; no ID or registration is required, but please bring bags or boxes.

MOLALLA RIVER WATCH

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

Over the past three years, the Molalla Area Women's Cancer Support Group has successfully reached out to dozens of women to offer emotional, spiritual and practical help. New members are welcomed with a care package to help them cope with the side effects from cancer treatments.

The group meets on the third Friday of each month from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Molalla Adult Community Center, 315 Kennel St.

FREE TRI-MET PASSES

Molalla Christian Church gives out free Tri-Met passes for low-income individuals who have a need. Passes are available at the church, 223 E. Third St., Monday through Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church can provide a book of 5-day passes and more depending on demand. The passes are made possible through a grant from Tri-Met to assist people with transportation needs to get into Portland for work, appointments, houseless help, veterans help and more.

WRITING GROUP

The Molalla Adult Community Center holds a writing group every Tuesday at 1-2:30 p.m. The class is free and open to anyone.

SOUP KITCHEN

Molalla United Methodist Church will open a soup kitchen every Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. and the fourth Saturday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. They will provide a nutritious meal at no charge to those who desire or need them. Donations of juice, cheese, veggies, fruit and finances are welcome. The soup kitchen also needs volunteers to help cook, serve, wash dishes, and clean tables.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings at the Molalla Adult Community Center are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at 3 p.m. The center is at 315 Kennel Ave., in Molalla.

AL-ANON FAMILY GROUPS

Monday Night Miracles Al-Anon Family Group meets at the Smyrna United Church of Christ, 31119 S. Hwy 170 on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. Molalla AFG meets at the Molalla United Methodist Church, 111 Mathias Road, on Wednesdays at 8 p.m.

AQUATIC CENTER MEETINGS

The Molalla Aquatic District holds public Regular Board Meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. at the Molalla Aquatic Center, 432 Francis St.

SUPPORT GROUP
