The farm is owned by the Kobielsky family. Daughter Katie said lavender is not only helping to save honey bees but has both culinary and medicinal uses.

"It is also a beautiful aromatic plant with so many varieties," Katie said. "We are planting and using different lavenders as we add fields."

The event had lavender-based refreshments. Lavender plants, handmade soaps and lavender shortbread mixes were sold.

"It is a beautiful day with a lot of visitors enjoying the field," farm visitor Leslie Olsen said.

Coyote Ridge is partnering with Lines for Life and New Avenue for Youth to honor the memory of the son of a family friend who lost his life to a drug overdose.
