School district hires new administrator, athletics director
Molalla River School District is welcoming Kristen Rott to a new administrator position—Molalla High School Associate Principal/District Athletics Director.
The board of directors decided to convert the current athletic director position from teacher-on-special-assignment to administrator.
With the change, Rott will be the third administrator at the high school, along with Principal Brad Berzinski and Associate Principal Sara Bean. Superintendent Tony Mann said three administrators is appropriate for the size of the school and is in line with other schools of a similar size.
Mann called Rott the "ideal person" to serve in this new position. She was a two-sport Division I athlete in basketball and volleyball at the University of Oregon. She recently served as the Wilsonville High School volleyball coach and has served as the social studies department chair at WHS.
"I would hire Kristen before anyone I know, if I had an opening on my staff," one university athletics leader told Mann.
Rott grew up in Oregon City and now lives in Aurora, where she and her husband are raising their family.
"I am in this business to be a champion for kids," Rott said. "I have had opportunities in my lifetime that have opened doors, and I want to be able to give those same opportunities to kids as they envision their own futures."
The school district board of directors decided unanimously on June 27 to approve Mann's recommendation to hire Rott. So she will serve in the position in the upcoming school year.
