Colton Corner: Before school started for real
Colton Elementary School had its "Welcome Back" night on Thursday, Aug. 29, giving students a chance to find their classrooms, meet their teachers, see old friends and bring in the supplies on the classroom list.
Olive, who said science is her favorite subject, will be a student in Mrs. Sahleen's second-grade class.
"I noticed a new swing set on the playground," Olive said. "It looks good."
Zeke, who is going into fourth grade, said math is his favorite subject, followed by recess.
"I will have Mrs. Herbison this year," he said. "She is a good teacher."
CES principal, Tori Hazelton, said the school's enrollment is looking about the same as it has for the last few years, but they will know exact numbers in the next couple weeks.
For Karen Groat, this is her 22nd year at the school and said it's her third year of having second-generation students.
"I love this community and teaching here," Groat said. "I am always excited for each and every new school year."
