CHAMBER BREAKFAST

This month, Esther, LLC is hosting the Molalla Area Chamber breakfast at the chamber office, 109 E. Main St., on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 7:45-9 a.m. There is no cost to attend. The monthly breakfast is held on the second Thursday of the month at rotating locations. COMMUNITY CHOIR

Molalla Community Choir invites all singers in south Clackamas County to join them for the 2019 Christmas season. Beginning Sept. 12, practices will be Thursdays from 7-8:30 p.m. into December at the Molalla High School choir room (357 E. Francis St., Molalla). Use the choir room door right of the gym entrance. Cost is $15 for the season.

CHRISTIAN CONCERT

The Molalla Christian Church is hosting a concert by "The Needhams" on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. This is a free concert for the community. The Needhams are a family group that features original songwriting with Christian music with pristine family harmony. All are welcome to attend. The church is located at 223 E. 3rd St. in Molalla.

WALK-A-THON

The Molalla Adult Community Center is holding a Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10:30 a.m. It is open to the community. The center is looking for people who want to walk and people who want to support walkers by making a donation. A $5 lunch will be served at noon. SIGHT-IN

The Molalla Rifle Club's Sight In Days will be Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15 and 21-22, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the range off Hunter Road in the Colton area. A donation of $5 would be appreciated. Ear plugs available for 50 cents a pair. The range is located on BLM land surrounded by private timberland. For a map, check molallarifleclub.com. QUILLING

The Molalla Public Library is holding a quilling class with Jenna Lechner on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 5:30 p.m. The class is for adults and teens. Space is limited.

PRAISE FESTIVAL

Area churches are working together to put on a praise festival at Grace Church on Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon to 6 p.m. It will feature musical groups such as The Oregon SenateAires, John Abraham Worship Team and bluegrass gospel group Jericho Road. There will also be a kids' fair.

SUICIDE PREVENTION TRAINING

Clackamas County is hosting a free suicide prevention training at the Molalla Public Library on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 2-4 p.m. The training will use the educational program "Question, Persuade and Refer," which teaches community members how to recognize that a person may be experiencing thoughts of suicide and how to offer first aid until more experienced help is available.

Participants will learn to recognize the early warning signs of suicide, ask the person about thoughts of suicide, persuade the person to get help, refer the person to help, offer hope, get help and save a life.

The course is available in English and Spanish. The training is for everyone aged 18 and over. Register online here.

Trent Beaver will perform at The Country Church in Molalla on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 5-7 p.m. The Concert on the Lawn will feature music, burgers, hot dogs, beverages, outdoor games and more. BIRD MAN EVENT

All are welcome at Pheasant Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. for some free, feathery fun. The Oregon Bird Man is coming with 15 of his exotic birds to the facility, located at 835 E. Main St. in Molalla. For more information, call Pheasant Pointe at 503-829-3777.

CUSTOMER APPRECIATION

Union Mills Feed, 14822 S. Union Mills Rd., is hosting its customer appreciation day on Saturday, Sept. 28 all day. There will be sales all day long, raffle items, hot dogs, spin the wheel, FFA fundraiser with dunk tank and all-around fun for the whole family.

CELEBRATE MOLALLA

Plans for Molalla's second annual Celebrate Molalla are going great guns. The Sept. 28 event, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., again coincides with the Heritage Apple Festival and will be even larger than last year expanding along Molalla Avenue from 3rd Street to the Dibble House complex. Vendors plan to stay open until 6 p.m.

At the start of the celebration, former Police Chief Rod Lucich will open the fun by singing the Star Spangled Banner and, possibly, another song about Molalla. From there, there will be food and retail vendors, beer from Silver Falls Brewery, music and more.

PLANNING COMMISSION

Molalla's Planning Commission meeting for September is canceled, but next month's is scheduled for Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m. and will cover the Development code amendment. The meeting will be held at the Molalla Adult Center, 315 Kennel Avenue. The public is invited. The Planning Department offers various services to enhance the quality of the built environment in Molalla. It focuses on both land use and transportation planning.

COLTON CLOTHES CLOSET

The Colton Clothes Closet is located in the lower level of the Parish Hall of Colton Lutheran Church on the corner of South Wall Street and South Highway 211. The clothing is free to anyone who wishes to stop by to shop. It is open every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Clothes Closet is an outreach of Colton Lutheran Church and all donations are tax-deductible. To donate good quality used clothing, shoes, and more, you may leave it any day in front of the door to the Parish Hall. If you want to volunteer at the Closet, please stop by any Tuesday during open hours and talk to the staff—volunteers are always needed.

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR

Join Mayor Keith Swigart for coffee and conversation on the first Tuesday of each month at Cowboy Coffee at the Prairie House inn (524 E. Main Street) from 9-10 a.m.

OVEREATERS ANONYMOUS

FREE FOOD MARKET

Colton Helping Hands Food Pantry is extending their outreach to the community by offering a Free Food Market, 30138 South Wall Street, on the fourth Monday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables and pantry staples available. The food is free and anybody is welcome; no ID or registration is required, but please bring bags or boxes.

MOLALLA RIVER WATCH

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

Over the past three years, the Molalla Area Women's Cancer Support Group has successfully reached out to dozens of women to offer emotional, spiritual and practical help. New members are welcomed with a care package to help them cope with the side effects from cancer treatments.

The group meets on the third Friday of each month from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Molalla Adult Community Center, 315 Kennel St.

FREE TRI-MET PASSES

Molalla Christian Church gives out free Tri-Met passes for low-income individuals who have a need. Passes are available at the church, 223 E. Third St., Monday through Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church can provide a book of 5-day passes and more depending on demand. The passes are made possible through a grant from Tri-Met to assist people with transportation needs to get into Portland for work, appointments, houseless help, veterans help and more.

SOUP KITCHEN

Molalla United Methodist Church will open a soup kitchen every Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. and the fourth Saturday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. They will provide a nutritious meal at no charge to those who desire or need them. Donations of juice, cheese, veggies, fruit and finances are welcome. The soup kitchen also needs volunteers to help cook, serve, wash dishes, and clean tables.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings at the Molalla Adult Community Center are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at 3 p.m. The center is at 315 Kennel Ave., in Molalla.

AL-ANON FAMILY GROUPS

Monday Night Miracles Al-Anon Family Group meets at the Smyrna United Church of Christ, 31119 S. Hwy 170 on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. Molalla AFG meets at the Molalla United Methodist Church, 111 Mathias Road, on Wednesdays at 8 p.m.

AQUATIC CENTER MEETINGS

The Molalla Aquatic District holds public Regular Board Meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. at the Molalla Aquatic Center, 432 Francis St.

SUPPORT GROUP

A Parkinson's Disease Support Group meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. at the Molalla Adult Community Center. Families, care partners and friends are welcome. For more information, contact Debbie at 503-829-6008.
