Some operations coming in at higher costs than anticipated; reducing contingency

Molalla's City Council members will discuss a resolution to transfer budget funding for fiscal 2019-20 in order to be able to pay for unanticipated costs.

Members will be asked to rebalance this fiscal year's operating budget to meet unforeseen expenses using Resolution 2020-02. Legal fees in the sewer fund may be a lot higher than anticipated when working the budget last year. Additionally, some maintenance operating expenses are higher than anticipated. City staff is reducing the contingency amount to meet increasing expenditures.

The 2019-20 budget appropriated $740,890 for sewer maintenance and will transfer $193,000 from the contingency fund to pay the increased costs raising appropriations to $933,890. The transfer decreases the contingency to $192,494 from the $385,494 appropriated revising the total sewer appropriations to $1.1 million.

The remainder of the meeting includes sections for public comment as well as reports from City Manager Dan Huff, the rest of the staff, Mayor Keith Swigart and the Council members.

There will be an executive session prior to adjournment that will include only Council members, the city manager and the media.
