Postponed until further notice; due to public health concerns over COVID-19

The Columbia Hemp Trading Company hearing scheduled for March 17 at 6 p.m. has been postponed until further notice.

In response from the CDC and the state of Oregon regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, the Molalla Municipal Court postponed the March 17 hearing at Molalla High School library.

"The safety of residents is the city's top priority," according to a press release from City Manager Dan Huff.

The court and city officials will closely monitor the situation and a new hearing date will be announced in the coming weeks.

The CHTC opened a processing facility in Molalla in August 2019 at 410 Industrial Way. In September and the following months, residents raised numerous complaints about the odors and the noise coming from the hemp processor's property. The city scheduled a Feb. 11 hearing for residents to testify, but that was rescheduled to March 17 due to a technicality.

The hearing will let the Court consider if the premises or substances are in a state causing an offensive odor (Molalla Municipal Code Section 9.05.030).
