Auction is canceled, but annual KC Charities seafood or chicken meal will take place at the Canby fairgrounds.

The Canby Knights of Columbus will try something a little different with their crab dinner fundraiser.

The 24th annual Canby KC Charities crab dinner will be a drive-thru event Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Clackamas County Event Center. While the dinner will still be available, the annual auction will not take place this year.

"We've had to make some major changes because of state guidelines and restrictions because of COVID-19," said Greg Perez, one of the event organizers. "With the heavy economic burden on our generous business community, the auction portion will not be taking place. Yet, we strongly believe that we can safely serve a great takeout crab or chicken cordon bleu dinner."

All net proceeds will be split between three local charities — Canby St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, Canby Pregnancy Care Center, and Canby Utility's Share the Warmth program.

Dinner tickets are $35 each and available by ordering on the website at, or by calling Duane Kloser at 503-913-2895.

To make the dinner pickup flow smoothly without traffic congestion or long wait times, the event will offer the following pickup times: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., or 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

But Canby KC Charities isn't done. They have another goal this year.

"This year we are helping a family of six who lost everything in the Santiam Canyon wildfire," Perez said. "This single mother, along with her five children escaped the fire with only a grocery sack of belongings and lost their home to the fire. We are going to ask all in the community for their help in getting this family back on its feet."
