Library is offering limited browsing, indoor holds pickup and 30-minute computer use.

PMG: FILE PHOTO - Molalla Public Library Molalla Public Library this month reopened its doors to the public for in-person services and will soon expand its hours to accommodate more patrons — all just in time for its 121st birthday in April.

After a long year of creatively offering services to area patrons in a distance format, the library reopened March 17 for limited browsing, indoor holds pickup and 30-minute computer use. Currently the hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday. Curbside service is available from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

"We noticed … that while there are people who definitely feel more comfortable with our curbside service, more people are coming into the library to pick up holds and browse," Director Diana Hadley said. "Our new hours will accommodate the needs of all."

On April 13, those hours will expand to 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Curbside service will be available during those hours without an appointment. Patrons may simply pull into the parking lot and call the library at 503-829-2593.

Masks are required for entry into the library, and there is a limit to how many people can be in the building at a time. Library staff will provide a mask for those who do not have one. There will be no casual seating or restrooms available.

There will be three public computers available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions are limited to 30 minutes per day. Staff is not available to assist with basic computer skills or Internet browsing. For those who may need assistance, they are asked to bring someone to help. The first 50 copies printed are free of charge as a thank-you for the patience and continued support of the community.

Grab-and-go kits for all ages will be handed out on Monday, April 12, and Monday, May 10.

After that, the library will move on to summer reading focusing on the theme "Reading Colors Your World." Watch the Molalla Library Facebook page and website at for more details.

"The Molalla Library staff has some fun things planned," Hadley said.
