Macksburg Gun Club cancels events, sets meeting
The Macksburg Gun Club has canceled its Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey shoots due to lack of participation. These events had been the club's prime means of financial support over the years.
The club is planning an annual meeting at 7 p.m. Jan 21 at the Canby Gun Club to discuss the future of the Macksburg Gun Club.
Vietnam memorial event slated for Aug. 7.
A celebration honoring the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Era Veterans Memorial will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the memorial.
There will be challenge coins, T-shirts, bricks and a donation jar for the perpetual maintenance of the memorial.
'Mature' rec hoops play about to start
Getting a little older but still want to hoop? Well, there's a group of "mature" men who have been providing those ages 45 and older the chance to get some exercise and fun by playing recreational basketball. The group plays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday during the school year at Trost Elementary School in Canby.
The group is looking for some more men to play as they get ready to start the season Aug. 31.

Former Canby coaches to be feted
A gathering to celebrate the contributions of two former educators is planned from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at the Wild Hare in Canby.
Mark Brandenburg and Keith Baker were teachers and coaches in the Canby School District through the 1980s and into the '90s. Their impact on the district's kids and programs will be celebrated at the event.

MUHS reunion set for September
The Molalla Union High School class of 1970 will hold a reunion beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Ringo Pond, 27785 S. Beavercreek Road in Molalla.
Library sets concert series
The Friends of the Canby Public Library will hold a summer concert series at Wait Park, beginning Aug. 5. The concerts will be Thursdays, beginning at 6 p.m. in the park and run Aug. 5, 19, and Sept. 2. Robert Moore & the Wildcats will open the series on Aug. 5, followed by Rose City Brass Quintet and finally Brad Creel & the Reel Deal.
