Molalla Library slates Bigfoot presentation
The Molalla Public Library will hold "Best Evidence: Clues to Finding Bigfoot" at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10.
Cliff Barackman, Bigfoot field researcher, will lead the discussion. He was the evidence analyst on "Finding Bigfoot," Animal Planet's hit TV show. He also has appeared on many other TV shows and documentaries. He and his wife, Melissa, own and curate the North American Bigfoot Center in Boring, which features the largest public collection of Bigfoot evidence in the Pacific Northwest.
Marquam church plans free barbecue
Marquam United Methodist Church, located along Highway 213, will hold a free community barbecue from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, chili and more. Live music will be from the Jon Dresher Group. All are welcome.
First Thursday events set for Aug. 4
The August edition of Canby's First Thursday returns Aug. 4 with activities and other specials going on around town. There will be a booth between Holly and Grant streets, along 2nd Avenue, where you can start the evening with a scavenger hunt. Cutsforth's Market will hold a cruise-in from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. A host of local businesses will be participating in the downtown area.
Aurora Colony Days ready for August run
This year's 33rd annual Aurora Colony Days will be Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13-14, in and around downtown Aurora. The action actually gets started on Thursday, Aug. 12, with a biergarten at the Colony Museum featuring the music of Mae Day (4:30 p.m.) and Michele VanKleef (7:30 p.m.). There will be a pancake breakfast Saturday at the Legion Hall, a market in the park, classic car show, parade, music and more at this year's event.

Molalla library plans astronomy star party
The Molalla Public Library is teaming with the Rose City Astronomers for a star party from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17. Bring binoculars; the event is contingent on clear skies.
Concerts in the Park continues in Aurora
Concerts in the Park has returned to Aurora City Park.
The free community concert series is held Wednesdays leading up to the Saturday, Aug. 13, Aurora Colony Days celebration.
The music series will feature The Ben Rice Band at 7 p.m. Aug. 3; the Pride of Portland Chorus at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13; and Best Night Fever from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.
Slice music series continues
Canby's Slice of Summer concert series returns with Stump City Soul on Aug. 7 and Generator on Aug. 22.
Seating is grass, so chairs, blankets or other seating are recommended.
Library continues outdoor concerts
The Friends of the Canby Public Library are bringing back their Library Concert Series. The group Castletown will be at Wait Park at 6 p.m Thursday, Aug. 4. The Rose City Brass Quintet will finish off the series at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1.
