Clackamas County residents living near Milo McIver State Park were ordered to evacuate Friday night and early Saturday because of an estimated 25-acre wildfire in the Estacada area.

Saturday afternoon, Estacada Fire Department personnel said the McIver State Park-area fire was knocked out, but that doesn't mean it's fully contained and fire crews remain vigilant due to extreme fire risk. Evacuation orders remained in effect Saturday evening.

About 550 homes were under a Level 3 "Go Now!" evacuation related to the fire, KOIN 6 News reported Saturday.

"Crews fought the fire through the night and 'worked phenomenally well together to establish a fire line' to protect homes and structures," Clackamas Fire District's spokesperson Izak Hamilton said Saturday in a joint news release from Clackamas County and its public safety agencies.

Hamilton said the established fire lines kept the fire limited to about 25 acres.

"High winds could make this fire bigger and more dangerous so officials do not know when people can return to their homes," the joint release noted. Clackamas County is directing residents to a fire evacuation map for updates.

Eight different fire agencies responded to the McIver-area fire between Friday night and Saturday. Residents were directed to evacuation shelters.

The Red Cross Cascades Region opened a shelter at Clackamas Community College, Randall Hall, 19600 Molalla Ave. in Oregon City.

Those living in areas impacted by evacuation orders also can go to the temporary evacuation point at the Clackamas County Red Soils campus at 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City, according to county officials.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office announced Level 3 "Go now" evacuations for the Feldheimer area from Hayden Road and Springwater Road to the Clackamas River at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 9.

Officials said both sides of Springwater Road need to evacuate east to the park, including Woodland Way and Parkview Lane.

The sheriff's office expanded the notice just after midnight to include from the Clackamas River: Fellows and Mattoon on the west, south of Fischer Mill to Metzler Park.

At 2:06 a.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Office put Level 2 "Be Set" evacuations from South of Fischers Mill, North of Upper Highland, East of Redland and Ridge Road and West of Mattoon and Fellows Road in Estacada.

It is not clear what sparked the fire; however, dry and windy conditions led to fire concerns throughout Friday and are continuing today.
