Patients in the mid-Willamette Valley will have streamlined access to services and information

Patients across the mid-Willamette Valley will now have access to a wider range of local healthcare services thanks to a merger between Family Medical Group and Legacy Health.

Dr. Shandra Greig, site medical director for the new Legacy Medical Group clinics in Molalla and Silverton said she sees the partnership as a way to "deepen our relationship with the community and to give our patients and their families additional levels of health care options."

"There is no denying that the last several years have taken a toll on all aspects of our healthcare system," Greig said. "When deciding to join Legacy Health, we thought long and hard about what was best for our patients and our staff.

Family Medical Group has provided primary care and family medicine to the community for more than 44 years. Now, staff will have access to Legacy Health's comprehensive network of services, which will mean patients will also have access to specialized clinics and providers.

"Patients will have access to clinical specialties through the Legacy Health system of hospitals, including orthopedics, general surgery and the Legacy Silverton Family Birth Center which is virtually connected to newborn specialists at Randall Children's Hospital," said Legacy Health Spokesperson Kristin Whitney.

Patients will also now be connected through Legacy's electronic medical record system, which means a streamlined referral process since Legacy is already linked with insurance companies for approval, Whitney added.

No new construction is expected with this partnership, but there are plans to update clinics with new flooring, paint, computers, and lab equipment, Whitney said.

The clinics, Legacy Medical Group Silverton Family Medicine (formerly Family Medical Group of Silverton) and Legacy Medical Group (LMG) Molalla Family Medicine (formerly Family Medical Group of Molalla) reopened earlier this fall.

Patients can now schedule an appointment online at Patients can also access their personal health records through Legacy's MyHealth patient portal.

Patients will still see much of the same staff they were used to seeing before the merger, officials said. Wait times are expected to be longer than usual, however, due to a high volume of calls, officials said. Staff are working to remedy these delays.
