The Cougars raked several all-league awards after dominating the Valley-10 League once again

The Country Christian postseason ended after just five sets, but the league season was everything that could have been expected of the former four-time state champion. The Valley-10 League was once again dominated by the Cougars went 12-0 in league and capped off the season with a league championship win over North Clackamas Christian on Saturday, Oct. 20.

For such a dominant run, the team was rightly give a slew of all-league honors. Two awards stood out most prominently, as the Co-Player of the Year award given to senior Katie Sandberg for her work as a setter. Sandberg shares that honor with Savannah Hale of Damascus Christian. Junior Maddy Behrendt was named the Defensive Player of the Year as a part of the All Defensive Team.

Lastly, head coach Janin McGrath was nominated for her sixth straight Coach of the Year awards.

"I always feel so blessed and humbled to be recognized in that manner by my fellow coaches," McGrath said. "I have a high amount of respect for the coaches in our league. To be recognized as coach of the year is an honor."

Also receiving first team all-league honors for Country Christian were senior outside hitter Sarah Phillips and freshman middle blocker Lizzy Grandle.

Second team all-league honor recipients for the Cougars were senior outside Kendall Halverson and junior middle blocker Kristin Kendall. All Defensive Team nominations went to Behrendt and senior middle blocker Luisa Amaya.
