Molalla Hall of Fame getting underway
Molalla High School's hall of fame overhaul is underway, and the early steps are being taken to get project moving.
Molalla High athletic director Todd Moore and several community members met to determine the first directions they would look to get the program off the ground.
"I thought today was a positive meeting that provoked a lot of great ideas and motivation to move forward with this awesome endeavor," Moore said. "As I shared today, I believe this is important work. (We're) bringing honor to our past, connecting the past to the present, and planting the seeds for those currently or will be in high school in Molalla will benefit from."
The items discussed at the most recent meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9 were numerous. One of the issues was forming a voting committee, as well as finding a group of people who will "serve in a support capacity," according to Moore.
The other items addressed included putting together a complete and accurate listing of head coaches, and reaching out to for records and information to donate to the Hall of Fame. This would be part of a larger database to be built with names, contacts, and current inductees.
Also being explored is nonprofit status for the Hall of Fame to help ingrain it into the school and district.
Also discussed was renovating and better recognizing the current members of the Hall of Fame. The next meeting is set to take place on Feb. 12.
