After hitting 10-game skid, the Vikings rebound with trio of wins, most recently against Delphian

FILE PHOTO - Colton High School logoColton's recent fortunes have turned around. After starting its season 1-10, the Vikings have rebounded strongly, winning three straight league contests and 3 out of 4 games.

The most recent victory came against the Delphian Dragons in road contest on Monday, Jan. 14. Colton toppled its league foe 59-41 after four quarters of play.

Once again the Vikings were led by their numerous upperclassmen, first and foremost James Parker. The 6 foot senior had 32 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. The strong showing has become a trend as of late. Helping out on the offensive side were seniors Javontae Maes and Wyatt Earls. Maes had 9 points and 9 rebounds, and Earls had a season high 9 assists in the contest.

This all came after Colton was able to break Delphian's press in the first quarter. After building up a 31-17 lead through the majority of the first half, Colton senior TJ Tiano hit a 35-foot buzzer beater to punctuate the dominant first 16 minutes.

The team also showed staunch defense throughout a majority of the game, holding Delphian to just 17 points at the half. Javontae and younger brother Donny Maes were a big part of that defensive effort. The sophomore Maes had 12 rebounds, along with 7 points.

The Vikings next square off with visiting Chemawa (3-3 in the Tri-River Conference, 5-7 overall) on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
