Several Molalla track and field athletes were able to shine, set PRs ahead of District meet

PMG FILE PHOTO: TANNER RUSS - Molalla's track and field team recently took to the road to compete against a host of other teams at the Madras Invitational. Molalla sent several of its track and field athletes to compete at the Madras Rotary Invitational hosted at Madras High School. Several of Molalla's top athletes were noticeably absent ahead of Tri-Valley District meet this upcoming Friday and Saturday, May 3-4. In their places, several up and coming athletes got to compete against teams ranging from 1A Sherman all the way up to 6A Mountain View.

The boys' team competitors recorded 13 personal records. While the top 10 finishes were few and far between at the invitational, the improvements that the team showed was great. Freshman Robert O'Hara set a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles with a 21.22 second mark. O'Hara also took 13th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.24 seconds.

Sophomore Niko Boehm took sixth place with a personal best of 18 feet, 9.75 inches (18'9.75"). That leap put him at 20th of the school's all-time list. Senior Tanner Nauta is the only other active athlete to be on that list.

Freshman Ayla Williams was the only Molalla girls' athletes to make it to in the top 10 of the events. In the 100-meter hurdles, Williams got to the seven spot with an 18.89 mark (a personal best). In the 300-meter hurdles, Williams finished 10th with a time of 58.95 seconds.
