Molalla's softball team made great strides this past season, and it did not go unnoticed.
The softball team put together an impressive 2019 campaign that led it to the postseason for the first time since the 2012 season where they were defeated by Yamhill-Carlton in a play-in round. This year, the team made the long trip to Ontario to compete on Mountain Time against the 12th ranked Ontario team in the play-in round. The Tigers got the job done with a 6-1 victory in seven innings, and Molalla's season had come to an end.
Despite the disappointing ending, Molalla put together a positive win-loss record for the first time in several years. The team finished with a 14-11 overall record, and an 8-7 record in the Tri-Valley Conference (TVC). Molalla finished fourth in league behind North Marion, Madras, and Conference champion Gladstone.
The teams play didn't go unrecognized by its league competition either.
Freshman Alison Wickham was voted second team all-leaguer infielder, alongside Gladstone junior Maddy Brady and Corbett junior Sydney Smith. Other second team all-leaguers included a pair of Molalla outfielders, senior Grace Nelzen and junior Rachael DeRosa.
Senior first baseman Amanda Wendell received honorable mention for her work during the season. Molalla senior Charlotte Pursley was an honorable mention utility player as well.
The team finished the season ranked 19th out of 33 teams in the state at 4A.
