Molalla baseball earns honors at seasons end
Molalla's baseball team stumbled at the finish line, but the season was not without its moments. The team put together a 5-4 record against non-league competition, and strung together four wins against Estacada, Madras, and Corbett (2x).
The back end of the season was difficult, though, for Molalla, as the team went 1-7 in its final eight games. Despite that showing late, Molalla players were still awarded for their efforts during the season.
Senior Jeff Larsen received an all-league first team nomination for his work at second base, and was the only Molalla player to do so. The second team player for Molalla was junior Linden Mackenzie in the infield, specifically third base.
Junior Jacob Nix was recognized as an honorable mention catcher for his work behind the dish. Junior Damian Pingo was named honorable mention infielder for his work at short stop, and fellow junior Carson Donaldson was named honorable mention utility player.
Molalla finished fourth in league behind eventual champion Tri-Valley Conference champion North Marion (23-2), Gladstone (17-9), and Estacada (11-14). Molalla scored 194 runs, and gave up 191.
